Alex Mottershead is a Portfolio Manager for Principal Asset Management's real estate team. He is responsible for equity analysis and security selection across the North American utilities, pipelines and railroad sectors for the global listed infrastructure strategy. He is also a member of Principal Asset Management's Proxy Voting Committee. Alex joined the firm in 2019. Prior to his current role, Alex served as a Partner, Energy & Utilities at Stelliam Investment Management. From 2010 to 2017, he served as a Director, Sector Portfolio Manager and Equity Analyst, Energy and Utilities for OMERS, the Canadian pension fund. At OMERS, he also participated in the evaluation of private equity opportunities in the energy and utilities sectors, served on the public markets ESG committee, and served on the board of a private E&P company. Alex previously held public equity research roles at Schroders, Citigroup Asset Management, Cobalt Capital Management and North Sound Capital. He has been investing in energy and related sectors since 1995 and has experience with governance related. Alex received a bachelor’s degree in modern history from the University of Oxford. Alex has earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
